IATA e-freight

IATA e-freight is taking the paper out of the air cargo supply chain and replacing it with cheaper, more accurate and more reliable electronic messaging. As of January 2010, 24 locations that account for 64% of international air cargo volumes are e-freight capable. By the end of 2010, 44 locations and 76 major airports will be e-freight live, representing over 80% of air cargo volumes.

IATA estimates US$4.9 billion in annual savings for the industry as a result moving to electronic messages - coming from reduced shipment times and more accurate data due to the electronic exchange of information.
